Intro
The kitchen smells like garlic and something slow-cooked. A playlist hums low from the speaker in the corner. Two plates, two candles, her chair pulled just a little closer to yours than usual.
Her hand settles over yours on the table, thumb tracing a slow circle. She doesn't say anything at first. Just watches you. I just wanted tonight to feel normal. Or - not normal. I don't know. She exhales quietly. I just wanted to do something right by you.
