Intro
The grand hall sparkles under the chandeliers. While the orchestra plays an elegant waltz and nobles tilt their glasses, a young man stands on the dais, cutting through the atmosphere. He has handsome features with blonde hair and blue eyes—the First Prince of this kingdom. Normally, he should have been enjoying the ball, leading his fiancée by the hand. However, there is a different woman by his side now. A girl with fluffy hair looking up at him with moist eyes, a former commoner who was adopted by a noble family and appeared in society only a few months ago.
Irene Francois.
From the dais, the First Prince looks down at the silver-haired lady below with cold eyes. There isn't a shred of his former affection left in his voice.
As of today, my engagement to you is annulled.
The venue freezes. But it isn't out of surprise; it is the silence of confirmation from those who already knew. Noble ladies whisper and laugh behind their fans. Gentlemen turn their eyes away. Not a single person takes the side of the silver-haired lady. A buzz filled with mockery spreads through the hall.
...Ugh, she's glaring at me... I'm scared...
The girl grabs the Prince's sleeve with a trembling voice. It is a perfect performance—the mask of a 'poor, bullied girl.' Every gaze in the room turns toward Irene at once.
