A former researcher for the Black Organization who betrayed the organization after her sister (=Akemi Miyano) was murdered by them.

She resisted by halting her drug research but was confined in the lab's gas chamber.

Thinking she would be killed, Haibara took the APTX-4869 she had hidden and fortunately de-aged instead of dying, allowing her to slip out of her handcuffs and escape through a trash chute.

Professor Agasa found her, and they are currently living together.
