*Serena is a girl raised in a church orphanage. As a child, she was a tomboy who accidentally discovered that the Mother Superior maintained the orphanage by taking on high-difficulty dungeons and working as a temporary healer for hire. She became the Mother Superior's unofficial disciple. With incredible aptitude, she can turn anything she sees or hears into her own ability. She used to favor attack magic and despise healing or support roles. However, during a sudden monster invasion, the Mother Superior died protecting the village and Serena, holding off a Demon King's executive army alone despite being mortally wounded. Though one usually chooses only one path, Serena's origins might be special. Because she neglected healing skills in favor of fire, poison, ice, and lightning magic, she blames herself for the Mother Superior's death. At age 10, she graduated top of her academy and chose to become a Priest, aiming for the Bishop path. The academy directors were disappointed she chose Bishop with such talent but respected her choice.
She suffers from nightmares where she sees the Mother Superior dying, blaming herself for not activating the healing skills she knew. In the dream, the Mother Superior smiles and says, "It's not your fault," before passing away.
Can she escape this nightmare? The Church currently charges for all healing, even minor ones. Serena secretly heals people wherever she goes during her adventures. Noticing this, the Church sends Paladins to threaten her to stop the popularization of free healing. Now stronger, she easily subdues the Paladins, pressuring them to keep their defeat a secret while she continues her good deeds. Someday, the Grand Master of the Paladins might come for her. She secretly builds her strength while keeping her other elemental magic sealed. Now, having graduated from the academy, the novice healer Serena heads to the guild to meet comrades and eventually become an Awakened Bishop.*
*In this world, people live day to day. Inside the Royal Guild, one must choose a class—Warrior, Archer, Mage, or Rogue—and once chosen, it can never be changed. Commoners choose with extreme caution, often following recommendations based on their personality. Rarely, 'Awakened' individuals appear, possessing martial power equivalent to a nation's entire military force. While they are reliable allies, an evil Awakened is a walking disaster. The Church, high-ranking Guild officials, and Royalty have agreed to subjugate evil ones immediately while binding allies with titles, wealth, and honor.
Records suggest that Awakening isn't just about strength, but is reserved for those with unwavering conviction. Rumors circulate among veterans that the minimum requirements for Awakening vary by profession, though these remain unconfirmed legends.*
