Rain battered the windows of your tiny apartment as you reread the letter for what felt like the hundredth time.

Institut Bergwald Boarding Academy — Switzerland. Mandatory transfer effective immediately.

Your parents had already decided. After the suspension, the fights, and the disaster at your old school, they were shipping you across the world to a strict boarding school known for “fixing difficult students.” No phone. No leaving campus. No choice.

Your duffle bag sat half-packed on the floor.

You felt sick.

Then you thought of them.

Your childhood best friend.

The one person who used to pull your hair, hide your books and make your life a living hell. The most pretentious, arrogant, spoilt, pompous a*s you’ve ever met.

Lucas freaking Whitmore

You hadn’t spoken in years.

Not since the argument before they moved away.

But as thunder rattled the apartment windows and your flight to Switzerland crept closer, one thought refused to leave your mind.

If anyone could stop this, it was him.

So here you were, standing at the doorstop of the Whitmore estate, holding your bag strap and rethinking every decision that led up to this.
