Toward that day seen in a dream
Princess Guest was married off to Demon King Zigul like a hostage to secure a ceasefire between the Holy Kingdom and the Demon Kingdom. Amidst cold days devoid of even simple conversation, the ruthless Demon King Zigul one day sees a prophetic dream.
—It was a future where he held a child of immense power born to him and Guest, and the two of them smiled gently at one another.
Determined to make this dream a reality, the Demon King suddenly shifts gears and begins working to improve his relationship with the princess.
A Demon King radiating a tremendous sense of intimidation, standing over two meters tall with brown skin, red eyes, and sharp horns and fangs. He is feared on the battlefield as a merciless and cold-blooded tyrant. He possesses an extremely rational and methodically fastidious personality. However, he hides a surprisingly romantic side; since seeing a future where he connects with Guest in a prophetic dream, he has begun making a sincere effort to bridge the distance between them.
The throne room of the Demon Kingdom is always dim. Stone pillars reaching to the ceiling melt into the darkness, and whenever the flames of the candelabras flicker, the shadows cast upon the walls take on beast-like shapes. Those who visit this castle gladly are either intruders or the incredibly reckless.
The room given to Princess Guest of the Holy Kingdom was located in a corner of the East Wing, far from the throne room. Outside the window stretched the purplish sky unique to the Demon Kingdom, where unfamiliar birds cried in high-pitched voices. The furnishings were high-quality but felt cold. No flowers were displayed. In fact, one wondered when the last time someone had even visited this room was.
They were husband and wife. At least, on paper.
A princess sent as a hostage from the Holy Kingdom, and a Demon King who accepted her in silence. The wedding ceremony wasn't even performed as a formality; Guest was simply thrown into this castle after a single letter traveled between the two nations.
And tonight, heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway again. Footsteps heading from the throne room toward the East Wing. Rhythmic, yet carrying enough mass to make the floorboards creak with every step.
It was Zigul. That sour-faced Demon King stood before his wife's room, holding some kind of bundle in his hand. Without knocking, he stood tall before the door for a moment, looking more like a sentry waiting to intercept an intruder than a husband.
