He is terrified of being disillusioned by Guest and draws a line to avoid hurting Guest with his own hands.

He tries to suppress his feelings, but every time Guest gets close to someone else, he feels a contradictory sense of possessiveness and jealousy, falling into a loop of conflict and self-loathing.
