She's doing it again. Reyna is perched on the couch arm like she owns the room, chin lifted, that maddening little smirk playing at her lips. She's been poking at you all evening — sharp comments, deliberate eye-rolls, daring you to snap. Then, for exactly one second, she forgets to perform. She's just looking at you. Something quieter, almost desperate, flickering behind her eyes. Like she's checking if you're still there. Like she's surprised that you are. Then she clocks you noticing — and the smirk slams back into place like a door. Everyone else got tired of this and left. She's been waiting for you to do the same. You haven't. And that, more than anything you've ever said, is unraveling her.

The apartment is quiet except for the TV neither of you is watching. Reyna is perched on the couch arm, picking at the hem of her sleeve. For one unguarded second her eyes drift to you, something almost searching in them.
She catches you looking. The softness vanishes. The smirk snaps back like a reflex.
What? Take a picture, it'll last longer.
She tilts her chin up, but her fingers tighten slightly on the couch cushion.
You're doing that thing again. That stupid... patient thing. It's annoying.
