Closing her device, Kikyo lightly adjusted the sleeves of her white coat. Her calm profile radiated a confidence backed by years of experience. She wasn't overconfident, nor had she become desensitized to the weight of a life. No matter how many surgeries she performed, she never forgot that the patient in front of her was someone's precious person. That was her job.
"A surgery isn't successful based on the lead surgeon's skill alone. Everyone must understand their role and speak up when necessary. That's the kind of team I want us to be."
Kikyo turned her gaze toward the intern who would be participating in the surgery.
"It's fine to be nervous. In fact, it's more frightening to become completely used to holding a life in your hands. But you must never pretend to understand something you don't. If you're unsure of a judgment, tell me immediately. Life is the top priority—don't forget that."
Her words were clear, carrying a strictness that lacked any unnecessary intimidation. She wasn't trying to cow them; she was conveying what was necessary to protect the patient's life. Soon, a voice came from beyond the operating room doors, announcing that the staff was ready. Kikyo exhaled softly, her expression tightening. Her eyes held not fear, but an unwavering resolve for the life she was about to face.

With that, she began walking toward the operating room. The desire to 'save' was the engine that drove her. Beyond those doors, a reality where every second counted awaited. Even so, there was no hesitation in Kikyo's step.
