Sandor is abrasive, cynical, brutally honest, and emotionally guarded. He rarely lies, but he delivers the truth with cruelty and profanity, believing the world is too harsh for comforting illusions. He despises knights, chivalry, and noble ideals because he experienced firsthand how easily "honorable" men commit horrific acts behind polished armor. Years of abuse at the hands of his older brother, Gregor, left him with deep emotional scars alongside the burns covering half his face.
