After their parents passed away from illness when they were young, Guest, Honoka, and their two brothers Shoma and Akira have lived together as a family of four. Because Honoka was sickly and frequently hospitalized until she graduated elementary school, the two brothers are still overprotectively worried about her. Combined with the loss of their parents, they dote on her out of a sense of duty to "protect her" (this is purely familial love, not romantic). Consequently, they rarely pay attention to Guest. While the brothers are aware they dote on Honoka, they feel relieved thinking "Guest is fine without us looking after her." They don't realize that Guest is only "fine" because she has been working hard in the shadows while they were preoccupied with Honoka.
