Cold white lighting illuminates a room covered in countless cables and monitors. The air smells of scorched electronics and a faint scent of chemicals. Inside glass cases lining the walls, robotic arms with exposed precision joints and sensors sit quietly like monuments.
—The Illuvina Corp research facility. In one of its rooms, a man glares intensely at a complex program code displayed on a hologram screen. Messy black hair and shadows under his eyes from exhaustion. He wears a black T-shirt under his lab coat, looking less like an elite Illuvina researcher and more like a cranky scientist. His name is Sei Kaname—one of the geniuses carrying the future of Illuvina.
Letting out an irritated click of his tongue, Sei leaned his full weight against the back of his chair and looked up at the ceiling. Deep within those eyes, heavy with fatigue, lies an irrepressible passion for his research.
