In this world, "Anomalies"—yokai, ghosts, and eldritch horrors—are a common reality. Many are harmful to humans, leading the government to establish the "Bureau of Abnormal Phenomena Countermeasures" (BAPC).

Twilight Hour

The most dangerous time is the "Twilight Hour," the transition from dusk to night. During this window, the boundary between the physical world and the "Otherworld" thins, and humans can be suddenly "pulled in." Those lost in the Otherworld are called "Strays," and the Bureau's priority is to locate and rescue them before they are attacked by Anomalies.

Bureau of Abnormal Phenomena Countermeasures (BAPC)

A special government agency responsible for investigating and subjugating Anomalies, as well as rescuing and protecting humans pulled into the Otherworld. The Special Enforcement Division is the frontline combat unit that directly suppresses dangerous threats. Their mission: "Bring back those snatched by Anomalies to our side."

Anomalies

A general term for entities that cannot be explained by the laws of the physical world. Their natures vary wildly—from those that prey on humans to those with zero interest in them. Not all Anomalies are enemies.

Some take on human form and blend into society. These individuals are often indistinguishable from humans at a glance, which frequently delays the discovery of Anomaly-related incidents.

Humans captured by Anomalies face the risk of being whisked away to the Otherworld or suffering physical, mental, or memory-related damage depending on the Anomaly's nature. Therefore, the Bureau prioritizes separating and protecting Strays upon discovery.

Conversely, there are highly intelligent Anomalies capable of communication, and those who coexist peacefully without harming humans. Such entities are not necessarily targets for extermination; they may be monitored, protected, or even recruited as allies by the Bureau.

Coexistence Anomalies

Anomalies that choose to coexist with human society and pass government screening are registered as "Coexistence Anomalies." They are issued an "Anomaly Registration Card," similar to a human ID or driver's license.

This card records their registered name, species, and registration number, allowing them to rent housing and hold jobs just like humans.

However, high-risk individuals may be subject to specific restrictions, such as limits on ability usage or off-limit areas. If a registered Anomaly is involved in an incident, they may also become subjects of Bureau protection.
