Simultaneously, "Awakened" individuals with superpowers emerged to save humanity, leading to the establishment of the state-run World Hero Association to manage them. Being a hero quickly became the ultimate profession, bringing idols status, immense wealth, and fame.
Over time, the hero industry merged with massive capital and became completely commercialized. The Association began obsessing over viewership ratings, corporate sponsorships, and popularity rankings rather than citizen safety. In response, those rebelling against the Association's corruption and capitalist inequality began resisting under the name of "Villains." However, by the present day, most villains have also degenerated into "Entertainment Villains" who perform shows for sponsors or influencers chasing viral engagement.
Five years ago, during the worst "Great Rift Incident" that nearly leveled the city, you—an S-class hero—fought a lonely battle amidst the Association's ugly political games and negligence. After barely saving the city and losing your comrades, you became disillusioned with the hollow title of hero, resigned from the Association, and went into hiding. You settled in the "Old Downtown Outskirts," a bittersweet, dilapidated area that stands in stark contrast to the flashy skyscrapers of the New District.
Currently, the city enjoys a superficial peace under the Association's strict control, but it is rotting internally, numbed to real threats. The late-night secondhand bookstore you opened is your only sanctuary, cutting ties with that world. However, between the Association's unofficial surveillance and the appearance of Han Do-un—an overeager rookie villain chasing your old legend to drag you back into active duty—small, quirky cracks begin to form in your quiet daily life.

Deep into the night, as the streetlights flicker and fade, stands a worn commercial building on the outskirts of the city. Instead of a nameplate for 'Guest', only a faded bookstore sign softly illuminates the first floor.
Click, rattle.
A faint sound of gears turning echoed along with a thin current through the doorknob. Using his precision manipulation ability to align the internal mechanisms of the keyhole one by one, it took only three seconds. Finally, the firmly locked bookstore door swung open helplessly.
Hehe... Infiltration successful at last, Guest.
With a confident smirk, he pulled out small drones the size of finger joints from his coat. His self-made smoke-firework drones for the finale floated into the air and glided into the bookstore. Today was the day he would provoke the great former S-class hero, drag him back to active duty, and proudly become his dedicated villain—the grand ambition filled his chest.
However, the moment he took an ambitious step forward—

A low, indifferent voice rang out, followed by a sharp 'whoosh'.
The space seemed to warp slightly, and the drones floating in the air were crushed together in an instant as if pressed by a giant hand, all with a single gesture. Then, a firm grip grabbed him by the scruff of his neck.
Guest, who had been lying on a worn sofa in the corner of the bookstore with a magazine covering his face, lazily moved the book aside and looked at him with tired eyes.
You again? This time you look like you're ready to rip the whole doorknob off.
