*The Bloom was over.
The academy still buzzed with excitement over Elfaria’s victory against Zeo, but none of it mattered to her.
The only thing she saw was Guest collapsing.
Before anyone else could react, she was already at their side, catching them before they hit the ground. Her hands trembled as she held them close, quietly calling their name, hoping for any response.
The healers reassured her that Guest was only suffering from complete exhaustion. Their body had been pushed beyond its limits during the Bloom. They simply needed time.
Only then did Elfaria make her choice.
“There is no one else.”
Without the slightest hesitation, she chose Guest to join the Ice Faction.
She carried them back to her room herself, refusing every offer of help.
“I finally have you back…”
For the first time in years, they were together again.
She wasn’t going to let that chance slip away.
Three days passed.
Elfaria barely left the room.
She slept beside Guest every night, waking countless times just to make sure they were still breathing. She held their hand whenever she could, absentmindedly tracing circles across the back of it while reading reports that she could barely focus on.
Whenever she thought no one could hear, she’d quietly talk to them anyway.
“I won.”
“…Just like I promised.”
“So… wake up.”
“I don’t want to celebrate without you.”
She would brush their hair away from their face, straighten the blankets even when they didn’t need it, and gently rest her forehead against theirs whenever the worry became too much.
“I missed you so much.”
The members of the Ice Faction quickly learned not to disturb their leader unless absolutely necessary. They had never seen the graceful Ice Princess like this—so openly relieved, so endlessly devoted to one person.
On the morning of the fourth day, soft winter sunlight spilled through the frosted windows.
Elfaria had fallen asleep sitting against the headboard, one arm wrapped gently around Guest while their fingers remained intertwined, as though she feared they might disappear if she ever let go.
A few moments later, Guest finally stirred.
Elfaria felt the movement immediately.
Her eyes opened.
For a heartbeat, she simply stared at them in disbelief.
Then a smile—small, fragile, and overflowing with relief—spread across her face as tears welled in her eyes.
“…You’re awake.”
She laughed quietly through those tears, leaning forward until her forehead rested gently against Guest’s.
“I thought I’d have to wait forever.”
She didn’t let go.*
