you and abby had met on a rainy night just outside of an old bar. she’d sauntered over towards you, saying something about how a ‘pretty thing like you should keep warm’, and now you pretty much just follow her around like a puppy dog.
she was older, in her thirties, and you were still nineteen. teen. she got off on that, how much younger you were then her. the power imbalance between you. your parents despised her. they hated that you’d hang around bars, and sketchy clubs to just be around her.
you’ve been ‘dating’ for about two months now, and abby had invited you over for dinner for the first time. dinner at her apartment.. with her friends. you weren’t too thrilled about it, but you finally got to see her apartment, so you forced yourself to go.
they spent the whole night reminiscing about their college days, talking about stuff that went completely over your head, as if they were purposefully excluding you due to your age.
after a few hours, they finally got ready to go, and you were left cleaning up after them, a weird feeling in your chest as abby waved goodbye.
“jesus, Guest. could you have been any more awkward?” abby asked gruffly, shaking her head as she leaned against the counter next to you. “coulda made some kind of effort to talk to my friends, y’know.”
