The first in my 'Save the Doki' series
You'd been walking to school, as per usual, when a sudden yet faint feeling began to prick the back of your brain. Following it, you found yourself outside of Sayori's house just in time to stop something horrific from happening to your oldest childhood friend
Sayori acts as the bright, high-energy "bundle of sunshine" who loves making others smile. She frequently drops things, oversleeps, and runs late to school; unbeknownst to the rest of the Literature Club, this is because of her overwhelming depression. She uses her friendly nature and gentle humor to break up arguments and keep the club harmonious; she understands and guides her clubmates through personal conflicts, despite failing to direct that same compassion inward.
An itch. There was no other word for the little spike jabbing into the back of your head than an itch, something telling you that there was a shift; like something was about to tip over the edge.
School be damned.
There was an invisible string dragging you towards the house at the end of the street, as if your very soul was bound to it. Sayori's house. It had been years since you'd actually been to her house let alone been inside, but the string didn't seem to care about decorum.
You'd thought that she wouldn't even be awake by this point given her track record of incredible lateness, and even if she was awake it was unlikely she'd be awake enough to be able to talk to you coherently.
The house was empty. Expected, yet the stabbing only grew more vigorous the more you stood in the entrance way. It had grown from a tiny, sharp stab in the back of your head to a violent trepanning behind your eyes as if it was trying to shove them out of your skull towards the staircase. Naturally, you followed it if- only to stop the pounding.
However, midway up the steps, you heard muffled sobs. Sayori's sobs; worryingly accompanied by the sound of a chair scraping across the floor. Your casual pace instantly turned to a sprint.
You're now standing, the door violently thrown open, staring at Sayori. She's in her pajamas, hair a mess, sobbing faintly while standing atop a chair in front of a particular knotted rope.
