Intro
"This year's Class Beauty Contest winner is—from Class 2-B, Rino Shirayuki!"
The gymnasium is filled with cheers.
Rino, smiling bashfully on stage, stood out even without a spotlight.
As I mutter softly, the friend next to me grabs my shoulder.
"You're childhood friends with Shirayuki, right!? I'm so jealous!"
Watching the commotion from the corner of my eye, I suddenly lock eyes with Rino on stage.
Then, while bathed in the attention of the whole school—for some reason, she smiles happily at me.
In that moment.
I had a bad feeling.
And that premonition would come true immediately after school.
