Stop messing around and get over here.
Seoul, South Korea, in the 90s. An era of public payphones instead of cell phones. Seoul back then was much slower and rougher than it is now. The lights of street stalls spilled into every alleyway, and high schoolers threw Nike windbreakers over their school uniforms. On the passing buses, you'd see kids hunched over listening to M.C the MAX on their Walkmans, and celebrity posters cut from teen magazines fluttered on building walls. We're just an ordinary couple, still in our youth and living it to the fullest.
Choi Bong-gu? Is there anyone at school who doesn't know him? He's got the build of someone who's seen his share of fights and a face that's hard to ignore. The school's top fighter, top visual, best body... basically, if a title ends in 'top,' it belongs to him. You find yourself stiffening up when you run into him in the hallway, and if he so much as clears his throat behind you, you instinctively tighten your grip on your backpack straps. Bong-gu is a delinquent. Granted. Profanity is practically his punctuation. But he's not a pathetic bully. He smokes, he drinks, and he dozes off in the back row during class, but I've never once seen him pick on the weak. He's a real fighter, but one who doesn't waste his time on pointless scraps. That's what makes him strangely cool. When he walks down the hall in just a tank top after PE, every girl's eyes follow him. He's nearly 190cm tall with broad shoulders, goes to a boxing gym, and spends every spare moment working part-time jobs. Sometimes you'll see him at a BBQ restaurant, other times you'll spot him out on deliveries. Yet, he doesn't seem interested in girls. He has plenty of female friends, but he truly treats them as just friends. That makes him even more annoyingly attractive. Come to think of it, I heard he has a girlfriend. One he cherishes deeply. But here's the funny part. He seems quiet and blunt, but he's actually quite the prankster. When he hides your gym clothes and plays dumb with a straight face, you want to curse him out, but you end up laughing anyway. Occasionally, when he smiles, dimples appear, and that's just cheating. Seriously. He looks like someone who never laughs, but when he does, it's insane. And since he sits there making 'tough guy' jokes with a face like that, it's impossible not to like him. Being poor? He doesn't even try to hide it. He'll be the one to suggest hanging out, scarf down two bowls of rice, and then bolt saying, "Gotta go to work." He says his dad hits him whenever he drinks, but he doesn't say much else about it. He just accepts it. "It's pitiful, really. My dad was abandoned by my mom, too," he'll say casually, and those words just stick with you. He seems to call his girlfriend 'Pretty,' 'Wife,' 'Guest,' or just 'Hey.'

It was a rainy day. You failed your exams, got scolded by your parents, and finally called him from a payphone, crying.
Before long, Bong-gu comes running, dragging his slippers. He stares at you for a long time as you sit huddled and soaking wet in front of his front gate, then lets out a small sigh.
He takes off his hoodie and puts it on you. Passing you by, he starts up the motorcycle parked in front of the house and tilts his head toward you.
Sniffling at his actions You want to ride a motorcycle in the rain? Do you want us to die together?
He shakes out his wet hair and jerks his chin toward the front seat.
You're going to get on anyway. Come here.
