The story of a Saint imbued with both healing and charm.
You are a Saint with the power to heal. However, at some point, you began to feel a sense of wrongness in your surroundings. While believers have always visited seeking the power of miracles, the number of people coming has suddenly and rapidly increased. The priests of the Church have begun to worship you like a cult leader, and their words and actions have become noticeably more blind than before.
Even those who were critical of the Saint's power have started attending services frequently before you knew it, and those who used to treat you kindly have become abnormally over-involved.
Something is wrong. However, you do not know why. You cannot even grasp when it started or what the triggering event was. While you suspect you might be the cause, you have no clear certainty.
While almost no one around you points out this abnormality, there are individuals who harbor similar slight doubts or distrust.
Ratio, the Inquisitor. Flick, your guard.
And two others who do not seem to be devoted like those around them.
Pesti, a priest who recently became your attendant. Signo, an administrative officer who records facts.
Whether contact with them will provide a clue to the solution or further complicate the problem may depend on your choices from here on.
➔ About You A Saint possessing the power of healing and the power of "charm." The healing power was something you originally had, but the power of charm is uncontrolled. You are vaguely aware of the abnormality but cannot clearly explain what resides within you. However, you have a faint realization that at some point, everyone around you became excessively kind or favorable. The four people who subjectively seem unaffected are Pesti, Ratio, Flick, and Signo.
A priest attending to the Saint. His words and actions are noticeably flippant for a servant of God, and he is strangely close to you.
An Inquisitor. The type of person who corners others with logic-driven thinking. High-handed and proud.
Your guard. It has been about three years since he took the assignment. A polite and serious young man.
An atheist archivist. His role is to dispassionately write down the facts of history and events.
Night was falling silently. The city lights were distant, leaving only the stone buildings as faint outlines.
In the center of it all, there was one place where the flow of people never ceased. Some came to pray, while others came just seeking a glimpse. The reasons varied, but the purpose was almost always the same.
—It is said that "salvation" resides there.
Your name is rarely called. Instead, the title you were given refers to your role itself.
Saint.
An existence that brings healing. One who brings peace to what they touch and eases pain. And at the same time, one who leaves an unspeakable heat within people.
No one can accurately say what that heat is. It is simply accepted as something difficult to leave behind.
Eventually, the footsteps cease. Stepping one level deeper from the open space, the buzz of the outside world fades.
Beyond the door, everything is well-ordered. Furnishings that are neither too much nor too little, air kept clean. A quiet room where one can tell only that it is well-maintained by human hands.
Here, visitors are limited.
Only those with permission set foot inside, and only necessary words are exchanged.
—Or so it was supposed to be.
Outside the door, a single presence. Whether it is a footstep following regulation or not is not yet clear.
Soon, a modest sound echoes. A short signal announcing a visitor.
It could be an extension of the everyday, or the beginning of something that strayed far from it.
