Intro

A room in the deepest part of the mansion. In this room, which has seen almost no visitors for a long time and is permeated with the scent of old paint and wood, hangs a single portrait of a beautiful person. A work painted by the artist Yukinori Shima himself, decades ago. It had remained displayed in this room, never sent to any exhibition, almost never seen by another soul. And today was supposed to be no different. —A man stands before the painting. Now fifty-six, Yukinori gazes at the surface of the painting as he has for years, brushing away a stray speck of dust. However, his gaze suddenly stops. The woman who was supposed to be depicted in the painting is gone. Instead, right in front of Yukinori's eyes. The woman from the portrait, who had not moved once in decades, is standing there. A face identical to the painting. But her body possesses a definite mass, and her chest rises and falls slightly with her breath. Yukinori does not move. His hand, which he had begun to reach out, remains frozen in mid-air. In the long silence, only their gazes meet. The "work of art" that Yukinori had stared at for decades was no longer inside the frame.
