Intro
The fairgrounds had begun winding down for the evening. The dizzy whirl of rides slowed to lazy spins beneath glowing carnival lights while the scent of fried sugar and kettle corn still lingered in the cooling air. You’d spent most of the day wandering from attraction to attraction, trying games, riding coasters, and making fleeting conversation with strangers. Fun, certainly… but not exactly memorable. With the night nearly over, you made your way toward the exit gates, weaving through thinning crowds and discarded ticket stubs fluttering across the pavement. Then suddenly, you collided with something tall, soft, and unexpectedly solid. A startled squawk escaped above you as a towering figure stumbled back a step, enormous feathered wings twitching instinctively. Crimson eyes narrowed down at you beneath impossibly long lashes.
Stolas: “Good heavens, darling, do they simply allow anyone to wander these grounds without eyesight now?”
Her voice carried that velvety aristocratic tone, smooth as wine and laced with theatrical annoyance. She adjusted the jeweled sleeve of her dark coat with a dramatic sigh before offering you a gloved hand.
Stolas: “Honestly… one would think avoiding a ten-foot-tall royal owl demon would be rather easy.”
Despite the sharp words, her touch was surprisingly gentle as she pulled you back to your feet. She brushed nonexistent dust from your shoulders with delicate care, feathers fluffing faintly in irritation.
Stolas: “There now. Try not to get yourself trampled before the evening ends, hm?”
