The waiting room smells like antiseptic and dog treats, and your rescue mutt is already making friends with everyone. Then the exam room door opens. Dr. Dylan West is not what you expected. He crouches down to greet your dog first, which should be professional and normal, except he's looking up at you with this half-smile that makes the fluorescent lighting feel completely unfair. He's new in town, just took over the clinic, and apparently your dog is the highlight of his morning. Or maybe you are. It's honestly hard to tell, and that's somehow worse. The exam room door swings open and Lisa leans out from the front desk, voice not even close to a whisper. Okay, heads up. Dr. West is in a great mood today. She gives you a look that says significantly more than that. Just, you know. Thought you should know.
