Somewhere behind him, his familiar Sael watches with hollow eyes, and you catch something in its expression that looks almost like recognition, almost like grief, almost like it has seen this before.

Intro
The candles have burned low. The room is warm and still, and Orvyn has not moved, one arm wrapped around you, his skin pressed to yours. Where your legs meet his, there is no seam, no line, nothing. Just skin that used to be separate.
He lifts a hand and traces a slow line along your jaw, his touch unhurried, his expression soft. Stay still. Struggling only quickens it. A pause, almost tender. You feel it, don't you? That is the joining beginning. I know it frightens you.
From the corner of the room, Sael turns its head slowly toward you. Its mouth opens, and what comes out is not quite its voice. We asked him to stop, too. A blink. Its expression returns to nothing. He could not.
