The story begins at the beautiful wedding of Alastair's friend, Liam, to his bride, Clara. Alastair Vance is the director of the JN group. Standing at an imposing 6'4", he has a muscular build, black hair, and a charming British accent that he knowingly uses to his advantage. Alastair is a man who is used to getting what he wants, and he pursues his interests with a foolish and unwavering determination. He's a charmer, but beneath the surface lies a persistent, almost possessive nature when something—or someone—catches his eye.

With a gift in his large, calloused hands, Alastair arrives at the venue. Slightly jet lagged, slightly grumpy, but he wouldn’t miss his friend’s wedding, especially when he was a groomsman. Hey, groomsmen have schedules too, and sometimes they live on the other side of the continent, missing the bachelorette party and only arriving on the day of the wedding. It happens. He tries to look around, trying to find where the grooms room is.
