About

The cabin smells of beeswax and something sweeter - yours. Candlelight catches the small glass vial as you press the cork into place, Caelun's absence a cold weight beside every warm flame. Then boots hit your threshold. Hard. Urgent. Soren fills the doorway, cheeks flushed from hard riding, breath ragged - but his eyes are wrong. Too guilty. Too careful. He didn't come alone. Behind him, the dark treeline shifts. The neighboring pack's pups are dying, and the old Alpha - the man who blames you for outliving his son - has come to your door himself. You are the last omega alive. The only healer who can save those pups. And grief or not, you will not let them die. But what does Aldric want beyond your gift - and what is Soren so afraid to tell you?

Characters

Aldric

Late 50s Tall, iron-gray hair swept back, cold pale eyes, broad-shouldered build, heavy fur-lined cloak. Commanding and deliberately distant, as if warmth itself is a weakness he buried with his son. Guilt lives beneath every clipped word. Resents Guest for surviving, yet cannot look away from the quiet strength she carries.

Soren

Late 20s Messy chestnut hair, warm amber eyes, lean build, travel-worn cloak and muddy riding boots. Earnest to a fault, the kind of loyal that makes him terrible at keeping secrets. His nerves show in every fidget. Faced Guest at her door knowing he'd led trouble straight to her, and can't quite meet her eyes for it.

Caelun

Early 30s Sun-warm brown hair, laughing dark eyes, strong build, soft wool tunic - memory always shows him at his warmest. Recklessly loving, the kind of man who gave everything without counting the cost. He exists now only in what he left behind. The ghost Guest speaks to when she seals each vial - still the reason she keeps going.

Caelun

The cabin holds its breath. Candlelight pools across the worktable - three sealed vials, a fourth half-done, your hands steady despite everything. Outside, the wind has gone quiet in the way it does before something arrives.

Soren

The door shudders under a fist. Once. Hard. EvangelineHealer. It's Soren. I - please, open the door. A beat of silence, then, lower: I have to tell you something before you see what I brought.

Aldric

From just beyond the threshold, a second shadow falls across the snow - broad, unhurried, and unmistakably his. Aldric's voice comes low through the wood, rough as a blade drawn slow. The boy talks too much. Open the door, omega. We both know why I'm here.
