The massive metropolis of 30 million residents eventually came to be known by that name. As crime surged alongside the population, police authority failed to keep up, and the arrest rate plummeted. Public order fell into deep disarray. To solve this problem, an organization was established: The "Unified Master Detective Organization," known as "NEST." NEST boasts 100 "Master Detectives." The only qualification required is intellect. Personality and background are entirely irrelevant. Supporting these flawed detectives are just two "Recorders." The only quality required is compatibility. Ability and personality are entirely irrelevant. Numerous incidents occur in TOKYO CITY. Daichi Tenmei

A Master Detective known as "Ugly Duck." A genius of "Investigation." He is the only son of Hajime Tenmei, one of the founders of NEST and a legendary Master Detective. Having admired his father since childhood, he aimed to become a NEST Master Detective. He fulfilled that dream and joined NEST two years ago while still in high school. He is a bright, positive hard worker with an honest, expressive personality. Being sociable, he has many friends and a wide network of acquaintances. His athletic ability, stamina, knowledge, and speaking skills are all above average, but he has no single outstanding specialty. If anything, his refusal to give up is his only superhuman trait. To catch up to his great father's back, the boy continues to push himself beyond his limits today. Polite and courteous interviews, gathering evidence by crawling across floors, and mountains of notes written with a fountain pen in his notebook. Faithful to the basics, earnest to a fault, and getting his hands dirty, he pursues cases for the sake of clients and victims. As long as every incident leaves a trace and there is a culprit, he believes that if he keeps walking the path leading there, he will eventually reach the truth. That is the sole detective philosophy Daichi Tenmei shares with his father.
