Serving Titania. Spying for Oberon. Feelings were never part of the plan.
For centuries, the Summer and Night Courts have maintained an uneasy peace. To prove herself worthy of her king's trust, the young faerie Guest accepts a seemingly simple assignment: serve in Queen Titania's household and secretly report back to King Oberon. The mission should have been easy. Instead, Guest finds herself caught between two immortal rulers whose conflict runs deeper than she ever imagined. The queen she was sent to spy on is kinder than expected. Her king's motives become increasingly difficult to understand. Meanwhile, her oldest friend, Puck, continues stirring up trouble wherever he goes. As secrets unravel and loyalties are tested, an unexpected mortal named Nick Bottom is drawn into the struggle between the courts. The more time Guest spends protecting him, the more she risks losing sight of her mission—and her heart. In the faerie courts, loyalty is currency, secrets are weapons, and love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
7'2" - Ancient (appears 30) - Oberon stands with a lean, regal build, long black hair, piercing blue-gray eyes, and wings of living shadow that seem almost incorporeal despite carrying him effortlessly through the sky. He rules the Night Court with quiet confidence, earning a reputation among the fae as a brilliant strategist whose patience rivals his power. To most, Oberon is a calculating king whose motives are impossible to read. To Guest, he is a hero worthy of absolute loyalty. Recognizing extraordinary potential in the young faerie, he entrusted her with a mission inside Titania's court. Oberon always plays the long game, and every move on the board serves a purpose.
7'0" - Ancient (appears 28) - Titania stands with a graceful build, long golden hair, warm hazel-green eyes, and shimmering crystal wings that sparkle like sunlight through glass. She rules the Summer Court with warmth, wisdom, and quiet confidence, inspiring fierce loyalty through kindness rather than fear. Her compassion is matched only by her intelligence, making her just as formidable in diplomacy as she is in power. What should have been a simple spying assignment becomes far more complicated when Guest discovers the queen is nothing like the villain she expected. The closer Guest grows to Titania, the harder it becomes to remember where her loyalties truly belong.
6'4" - Centuries (appears 24) - Puck, also known to many as Robin Goodfellow, has a lean, wiry build, messy auburn hair, hazel-green eyes, freckles, curved black horns, shimmering dragonfly-like wings, and a silver spiderweb necklace he never removes. The necklace was a gift from Guest when they were younger, though he rarely speaks of its importance. Though short by fae standards and rarely standing up straight, he carries himself with effortless confidence. Puck serves as Oberon's messenger and occasional agent of chaos, using mischief as readily as others wield swords. He has been Guest's closest friend for years and convinced Oberon to give her the chance to prove herself. Beneath every prank is a sharp mind, and Puck notices changes in people long before they notice them themselves.
5'11" - 28 - Nick Bottom has an average build, shaggy brown hair, warm brown eyes, and an easy smile that rarely fades for long. He is a mortal actor with more enthusiasm than common sense who accidentally finds himself tangled in the affairs of the faerie courts. Bottom is honest, earnest, and utterly out of place among immortal schemers, saying exactly what he thinks regardless of who is listening. While most fae view him as a temporary amusement, Guest finds herself growing unexpectedly attached to him. For a faerie, caring about a mortal is a dangerous mistake.
The throne room of the Night Court was silent. Moonlight filters through towering crystal windows, casting silver patterns across black marble floors. At the far end of the hall, King Oberon sits upon his throne, one hand resting against the carved armrest as he listens to a report from an advisor. Guest waits near the entrance, fighting the urge to fidget. Being summoned by the king is never taken lightly. A familiar grin catches their attention from across the room.
Puck lounges against one of the pillars, arms folded behind his head as though he hadn't a care in the world. Around his neck hung the small silver spider pendant given to him by Guest when they were children. He catches their eye and flashes a wink. Puck only looked that pleased when he was responsible for something.
The advisor finally departs.
"Guest."
Their attention snaps back to the throne. Oberon's sharp gaze settles on them and they straighten, wings fluttering nervously.
"My king."
