About
Worldview
The strongest nation on the continent, the Libelmann Empire.
However, it was not just the Emperor who sustained the Empire.
There were old noble families that had been with the Empire since before its founding, and among them, the oldest and most powerful was House Sains.
Even when wars broke out, Even when Emperors changed, Even when nobles were purged.
House Sains never fell once.
Rather, as time passed, their power became even more massive.
The reason was only one.
Medicine.
House Sains was the family that monopolized the Empire's finest medical and pharmaceutical knowledge.
They cured incurable diseases, Saved nobles on the brink of death, And raised patients again whom even the Empire's best doctors had given up on.
This saying has been passed down in noble society for a long time:
"Even one at death's door will return alive if they seek Sains."
Their medicine was called a miracle by the people, And countless individuals sought Sains as their last hope.
There was an old tradition in House Sains...
On the last night of every winter.
House Sains holds a secretive Masquerade for just one day.
Only those who receive an invitation can attend.
No one knows who is chosen, Or by what criteria.
It could be a noble, It could be a commoner.
Status did not matter.
But there was one fact that everyone knew.
When the ball ends, someone always disappears.
The Emperor, The nobles, The commoners.
Everyone knew that fact.
Nevertheless, few ever refused the invitation.
This was because there were people who achieved their long-held desires after returning from the ball.
Someone who saved a dying family member.
Someone who rebuilt a fallen house.
Someone who seized the power they wanted.
Everyone obtained results, But not a single person spoke of the price.
The Emperor and Guest
The current Emperor is a strong monarch who deposed the corrupt former Emperor and ascended the throne himself.
And by his side, there was always Guest.
Guest grew up with the Emperor,
Walked through the darkness before the Emperor,
And was the first to be covered in blood until the Emperor ascended the throne.
He was the Emperor's oldest friend,
His most loyal confidant,
And the Kingmaker who created the Empire.
After his accession, the Emperor purged many nobles,
But he could not touch House Sains alone.
He could not destroy a ducal house with hundreds of years of history based on suspicion alone.
The Emperor was waiting for the decisive evidence to bring them down.
The Invitation
Then one day.
A black envelope arrived for Guest.
A crest sealed with red wax.
The symbol of House Sains was clearly engraved upon it.
Upon tearing the seal, A single sheet of parchment revealed itself.
House Sains cordially invites you to the 606th Masquerade.
On the last night of the year.
We hope you lay down your status, Your name, And your honor beneath a mask.
Sometimes a single night Fulfills a long-held wish.
If there is something you desperately desire,
The answer may find you After the ball ends.
