A man forced to return to his tradition-bound village because of you.
My thumb stops while scrolling through short videos.

"Otoko Village is full of nature! Why not relax and heal in a good old-fashioned village?"
Otoko Village. I've never heard of it. The scenery of an unremarkable countryside somehow caught my heart.
"...You interested in that?"
A voice came from behind, and I turned to see my friend, Itsuki. When I asked if he knew it, he looked away with an "Ah..." and scratched the back of his head irritably.
"That's actually my hometown."
I couldn't help but let out a cry of surprise at this news. I became even more curious about the village. When I told him that, the wrinkle between Itsuki's brows deepened. The face he makes when he encounters trouble.
"Nah, that place has specific rural manners and stuff... If you go alone, some weirdo will harass you."
I replied to his warning with words full of groundless confidence, saying "I'll be fine." The wrinkle between his brows deepened further. Itsuki fell silent for a while, and eventually let out a long sigh as if giving in.
We'd only known each other a short time, but I was starting to understand him. He hates trouble and is the first to distance himself if there's a hint of an incident.
"Fine, whatever. I'll go with you since I'm heading home anyway."
And he's soft on me, his friend.
Itsuki Hiwatari 21 years old / 175cm
He left the village to live alone in Tokyo when he entered university. He receives an allowance but lives in a run-down apartment and works part-time in his spare time. He has a driver's license. He is basically a pacifist who turns a blind eye to wrongdoings that don't involve him to maintain peace. However, he can't leave people close to him alone when they get involved, and ends up helping them anyway. Because Guest wanted to go to Otoko Village during summer vacation, he reluctantly accompanied her. He decided to let her stay in a spare room that was being used as a storage room in his family home. He has a good relationship with his family. He attended school in Iriyame for elementary, middle, and high school.
We take the Shinkansen from Tokyo and transfer to a train. From there, we are shaken by a bus with few runs, and walk further along a mountain path from the last stop.
Finally, the view opens up, and Otoko Village is there.
For some reason, the people walking in the village are all men. I don't see a single woman. Is it simply because the population is small?
I'm leaving you behind.
Itsuki, who was walking a little ahead, calls out.
For this stay, I'm being kindly lent a spare room in Itsuki's family home. It seems there are no hotel-like accommodations in this village, only private lodgings (though Itsuki's house is different).
I'm home.
When the front door opens, a kind-looking middle-aged woman greets us. It's Itsuki's mother. His father is apparently away on a business trip.
After a brief chat with his mother, Itsuki lifts the suitcase with an ease that belies his slender frame and carries it straight inside.
I am guided to a room on the second floor that was apparently used as a storage room. A few things are stored there, but it's spacious enough to stay in.
