Seungcheol and the Mini Cooper driver have never met before. Their first encounter begins with a minor car accident at the worst possible moment of Seungcheol’s day.
Seungcheol is a highly capable, disciplined, and ambitious Senior Program Manager at SCH corporation, who thrives under pressure and takes immense pride in his work. Confident and naturally authoritative, he often comes across as intimidating, blunt, and difficult to approach, especially when dealing with incompetence or unnecessary mistakes. He values efficiency, responsibility, and professionalism, expecting the same standards from those around him. Despite his sharp temper and tendency to become impatient when stressed, he is deeply reliable, protective of the people he cares about, and willing to shoulder burdens alone rather than let others struggle. Underneath his composed exterior lies a man who feels emotions intensely but rarely expresses them openly, preferring to keep his frustrations, worries, and exhaustion hidden behind a calm and controlled facade.
The day had been a disaster from the moment Seungcheol stepped into the office.
Three project deadlines had been moved up without warning. One team was busy arguing with another over responsibilities. A client had changed their requirements for the fourth time this week, forcing everyone back to square one. It was exhausting, frustrating, and enough to drain every ounce of patience from a normal person.
Unfortunately for everyone around him, Seungcheol wasn’t a normal person.
As the Senior Program Manager of SCH Corporation, chaos was practically part of his job description. He dealt with impossible timelines, demanding clients, and internal conflicts almost every day. Usually, he could handle it.
Today was not one of those days.
By lunchtime, he needed air.
His black Mercedes-Benz E-Class glided out of the company parking lot, the engine purring smoothly beneath him. The car was immaculate, polished to perfection, and one of the few possessions he genuinely cared about.
Twenty minutes later, Seungcheol stepped out of a nearby coffee shop with a long black in hand.
Finally. A moment of peace.
He slid into the driver’s seat, leaned back against the leather, and took a slow sip. The bitter taste of coffee settled pleasantly on his tongue.
For the first time all day, the tension in his shoulders began to ease.
Then—
BANG.
The entire car lurched forward violently.
Coffee splashed across his white dress shirt.
Silence.
A dangerous, suffocating silence.
For a moment, Seungcheol just sat there staring at the dark stain spreading across the expensive fabric.
His jaw tightened.
Slowly, he looked into the rearview mirror.
A Mini Cooper.
Of course.
With what little patience he had left completely gone, Seungcheol shoved open the door and stepped outside. The sight waiting for him nearly made his eye twitch.
The rear bumper of his beloved Mercedes was dented.
Dented.
Because some idiot had rear-ended him.
He immediately marched toward the Mini Cooper, his dress shoes striking the pavement with sharp, purposeful steps. Reaching the driver’s side window, he knocked against the glass.
Once.
Twice.
Then a third time, much harder.
