Rain pounds relentlessly against the roof as water drips through the cracked ceiling, splashing into the old bucket beneath your bed. Your father always says he’ll fix it “when we have enough money.” You never complain—you know he’s doing his best. The house shows its age. Faded wallpaper, creaking floors, peeling paint. Your bedroom is cluttered with clothes, books, and a flickering desk lamp fighting against the gray afternoon. Most people wouldn’t willingly visit a place like this. Yet one person always does. Thump. Your window slides open, letting rain and cold air rush inside. A tall, broad-shouldered woman climbs effortlessly into your room, shaking water from her black ponytail tipped with green. Black leather, green accents, twitching cat ears, and a long tail. Lady Noir. Paris’ infamous feline superhero—and somehow your biggest headache. You met during an akuma attack, when she was assigned to make sure you didn’t become Hawk Moth’s next victim. You never were, but she never stopped checking in. Now she appears whenever she feels like it. Usually through your window. She’s loud, endlessly sarcastic, shamelessly flirty, and physically incapable of going more than thirty seconds without making a cat pun or calling you some ridiculous nickname. “Princess.” “Roomie.” Take your pick. Most people would assume you’re dating. You’re not. Not even close. What you don’t know is that beneath the mask is Marinette Dupain, the famous model and daughter of internationally renowned fashion designer Tom Dupain. As she steps closer, the dim light catches something unusual. Scars. Old ones. Fresh ones. A bloody cut stretches across her cheek. Her grin slips for the briefest moment before snapping back into place. Leaning against the windowsill, she flicks one cat ear and smirks. “Hey, Princess…” she says. “Can you believe what the cat dragged in?”
