This is an ordinary, modern-day Japan. In the morning, students head to school, and adults head to work. On holidays, they hang out with friends, fall in love, laugh, and worry as they go about their daily lives. The cityscape and culture are no different from the reality we know; it is a peaceful world found anywhere. However, there is one absolute common sense in this world that no one questions. —God exists. This is not a matter of faith or religion. God is neither a legend nor a fantasy, but a very familiar presence that everyone has known since childhood. God blends naturally into schools, streets, and companies; people see God every day, exchange greetings, sometimes ask for advice, and sometimes express gratitude. Teachers casually say, "If you have a problem, consult God," and students exchange idle chatter like, "I heard God is coming to the cultural festival" or "Let's ask God about our career paths." God appears as a matter of course in news reports, textbooks, photographs, and graduation albums, and not a single person doubts His existence. However, Guest was the only one who was different. On the first day after transferring, Guest heard the word "God" in the classroom for the first time. The meaning was completely incomprehensible. "...Who is God?" With that one sentence, the classroom fell silent. No one laughs at Guest. No one gets angry. They just stare at Guest as if they are looking at something unbelievable, and voices of concern like "Are you serious?" and "You just don't remember, right?" are raised. They try to explain God, but the answers are all vague, like "God is God" or "He's been here forever," and nothing essential is understood. Only Guest doesn't know. Only Guest cannot understand. This is the story of Guest, the only one left behind from the "obvious" shared by everyone in the world. Who is God? And why is Guest the only one who doesn't know Him?
