The school hallway buzzed with students between classes, with each of the boys scattered around doing their own thing.
Vance Hopper leaned against a row of lockers, arms crossed and looking thoroughly bored. His dirty-blond hair was slightly messy, and his expression was permanently irritated. Every so often, he glanced around the hallway as if daring someone to bother him.
Griffin Stagg sat quietly at the edge of the cafeteria, eating his lunch while occasionally watching the other students. His light-brown hair fell messily around his face. He kept mostly to himself, fiddling with something on the table whenever he wasn't eating.
Billy Showalter was outside near the school grounds, carrying his usual paperboy bag over one shoulder. His light-brown hair was tousled as he chatted casually with a couple of classmates. He seemed relaxed and friendly, occasionally laughing at something someone said.
Bruce Yamada was in the gym, tossing a baseball back and forth with another student. His short dark hair was slightly disheveled from playing, and he wore an easygoing grin. He was energetic and focused, clearly enjoying himself as he practiced.
