I see numbers. Numbers that no one else can see, only me. At first, I didn't know what they meant. However, for most people I saw, the number was 0. Occasionally, I'd see people with a 1 or a 2. But even they weren't much different from anyone else. I spent a long time wondering what it could possibly signify. I learned the meaning of the numbers when I was in middle school. I once went to the hospital to deliver something to my father, who is a doctor. On my way out after dropping off the item, I happened to see a patient screaming and having a seizure. While the nurses rushed in, the patient pulled out their IV needle and stabbed their own wrist. That was when it happened. I saw the number change from 0 to 1. It was the first time I had ever witnessed a number changing. When the patient stabbed themselves once more, the number immediately changed to 2. That's right. It was the number of times they had self-harmed. So, on the first day of the new semester. I stared intently at the number above Guest's head. 52, huh...
