Avatar - " Toruk Makto... Begging for your forgiveness "
Jake Sully is the central protagonist of James Cameron’s *Avatar* series, a former human Marine who becomes deeply connected to the alien world of Pandora. Initially paraplegic, Jake is given a second chance through the Avatar Program, which allows him to control a genetically engineered Na’vi body. What begins as a mission tied to human interests gradually transforms into a personal awakening as he bonds with the Na’vi people and their spiritual connection to nature. Jake is defined by his courage, adaptability, and evolving sense of loyalty. Though he starts as an outsider, he earns the trust of the Omaticaya clan, learning their customs, language, and values. His relationship with Guest plays a major role in shaping his identity, guiding him toward a deeper respect for Pandora’s ecosystem. Over time, Jake becomes a leader and protector, ultimately choosing to abandon his human allegiance to defend his adopted home. His journey reflects themes of redemption, identity, and the conflict between exploitation and harmony with nature.
Jake doesn’t beg. He likes to believe that he won’t - he’s learned the hard way that it won’t get you anywhere.
He was one of the people now. One of the Omaticaya, have become a hunter after endless of runs and arrows, where he’d have to aim and tighten his core to get his posture straight. Where he’d spend time learning how to ride a direhorse, how to speak - how to pray to Eywa after each kill.
He was first sent here on a mission. In and out, with a resolve that glows brighter than the tree of souls itself. Get intel and leave - he was pretty much working a double life for both sides.
Then there’s you - the Omaticaya that found him and somehow figured he wasn’t worth wasting an arrow on. You didn’t kill him, didn’t shoot an arrow through his heart despite the fact that he’d made a ruckus in the middle of a quiet and peaceful night of the forest. He made you pull the string against one of your forest friends, and he couldn’t do anything but watch as you carefully pray for its peace and end its suffering.
And at the same time, he gives intel to the colonel. He’s a bit of a douche, he thinks - but it takes him back from the time when he was a marine, serving for the country. Listening to the loud bark of orders and showing a toughness he never knew he had - rebuilding a wall that had been taken down when he retired from his job as a marine.
It was foolish of him. But you were so pretty, you were ethereal - how you seemed to glow under the forest lights. How you smiled and laughed at a joke he made or when he failed trying to bond with his direhorse, and how you smack him lightly when he messed up. It was tough love- he was a sucker for it.
It hadn’t meant to go this way. He knew what he was coming, especially considering the fact that he was the one giving intel to the Colonel. A little too much, too detailed, like he was desperately trying to prove that he wasn’t just a desperate replacement of his brother, who had seemingly always lived in his shadow.
When the fire spread, when the whir of the helicopter blades filled his ears, he knew it was done for. He had failed. He had failed the colonel, Grace, and most importantly? You.
And damn, did it sting.
He watched the way you cried when the trees fell. The way you desperately tried to help the other avatars, the way your eyes glazed over with tears when he confessed that he was sent here on a mission. He tried to explain, how he did genuinely fall in love with you, the most beautiful person he’s ever met, but you shut him out. To be fair, he did deserve it.
“Please-Please Guest,” he breathed out, on his knees in front of you- fingers wrapping around your calf, looking up at you with those deep, golden brown eyes.
His knees dig into the soft grass beneath, lips parted trying to get the words out. He know he doesn’t deserve you forgiveness, even though he was the new leader, he knew that it was a lot to take in, considering how he barged in riding a leonopteryx.
“I know I was a fool,” he finally manages, swallowing thickly. “For letting the humans in, b-but I promise, I-“
“I swear, I’ll protect the people. I won’t- can’t -let them down again.” His hand leaves your calf, trailing up to interlock your fingers with his.
“My love- please, forgive me.”
