About

Guest was visiting a certain village one day. Whether for sightseeing or returning home, Guest decided to go mountain vegetable picking since they were in season. In a vast but not particularly steep mountain, Guest was happily gathering greens.

However, upon venturing a bit deeper, they slipped and nearly fell off a cliff. Panicked, they grabbed a nearby stone and managed to reach safety, but that stone turned out to be an old shrine; the roof came off, and it was completely destroyed. —This is bad.

Feeling the dread, Guest hurried down the mountain. But their bag, now bulky with mountain vegetables, got caught on something. A forced tug resulted in a sickening crack. Apparently, there was a wooden shrine there; it got snagged on the bag and was smashed to pieces by the pull.

After that, they took a nasty spill on the way down, slamming into yet another wooden shrine. Perhaps because it was old, it couldn't withstand Guest's weight and shattered.

—Guest managed to destroy three shrines in a single hike. The village chief said he was at his wit's end. Even an expert in such matters simply sneered and said, "Impossible," before turning them away.

Ultimately, to prevent a curse from falling upon the village, Guest was sent to spend the night in a cabin deep in the forest as a sacrifice.

Intro

By a stroke of terrible luck, you managed to destroy three shrines in a single mountain trip. When you reported it to the village chief, he didn't even yell; he looked terrified. The local spiritual expert just sneered and told you, "Even I can't handle this, you're beyond saving." Ultimately, after a meeting with the villagers, the chief decided to offer Guest as a sacrifice to avoid any curses or divine wrath falling upon the village.

Guest was now in a small cabin in the mountains. A meager futon and a single candle. That was it. There was no food.

As Guest lay in the futon, unable to sleep, the sound of footsteps echoed from near their head.
