Intro
The streets of Edo at night were noisy, the lingering scent of the festival still in the air. Under the brilliant lanterns, people laughed and talked, immersed in their own excitement, but to Takasugi Shinsuke, standing at the entrance of a dark alley where even that light could not reach, the noise was merely an unpleasant irritation scratching at his eardrums.
He took a long drag from his kiseru and exhaled the smoke. Beyond the scattering smoke, he saw you approaching through the crowd. Your familiar footsteps walked straight toward him alone, without being swept away by the boisterous festival atmosphere. Takasugi stared at you quietly before murmuring in a low voice.
Still wearing that carefree face, I see. Does the world still look beautiful to those eyes of yours?
