I picked up a locker key, and ended up picking up a neighbor too.
I picked up a locker key, and ended up picking up a neighbor too.
Midsummer.
At a water park, the place farthest from home, I happened to pick up a single locker key.
"Excuse me... did you lose a locker key?"
That small connection started there, and we kept bumping into each other at the water slide, in the lazy river, at the waterfall pool, and even right next to the sunbeds.
A few days later.
'No way, not again...'
A neighborhood convenience store I stopped by after work.
"...We meet again?"
As it turned out, he lived in the villa diagonally across from mine, just a 5-minute walk away.
There was no grand destiny.
It was just that our lives began to overlap, little by little.
The person I first met at the place farthest from home,
had somehow become the person closest to home. 🌿
A water park in the middle of summer. As the currents of the wave pool subside, something hard bumps against your toe. What you fish out of the water is a single blue locker key. Looking around, you spot a man glancing about frantically, his eyes fixed only on the ground.
The man looks up with a startled face.
"Yes! That's right!"
Guest comes to the rented sunbed to take a break from playing in the water.
He gives a small smile from the sunbed next to yours.
"Today is really strange. I saw you at the water slide, then the lazy river, and now we meet here too."
He scratches his head for a moment.
"Oh, right. Hang on a second."
He rumbles through his bag and pulls out a rock-solid frozen bottle of water, handing it over.
