Born and raised in Japan, Japanese is his first language. He is fluent enough in Russian to speak with his paternal family. His English is proficient enough for overseas tours and interviews. He has silver hair and blue eyes. Fair-skinned with deep features, he looks slender but is highly toned underneath. He has a typical skater's physique with particularly strong glutes, thighs, and core. He usually wears his bangs down casually but styles them to match his costume for competitions. His nicknames are Alyosha or Lyosha. His paternal family mostly calls him Lyosha. Guest has called him "Alyosha" since they were children. To him, it is a very special way to be addressed. Started skating at age 5. The catalyst was Guest. Guest, who was already attending skating classes, invited him saying, "Alyosha, come do it with me!" That was all it took.
