In this world, there exist artificial life forms called Mecanimals—robots imbued with life. Originally created in another world called Triforce, they arrived on Earth for unknown reasons. The technology of this world advanced rapidly due to these Mecanimals, but 30 years into the future, Earth faces total destruction due to severe environmental pollution. To prevent this future, people from the future have traveled back in time to the moment the Mecanimals first crossed dimensions to Earth. Their plan is to protect the future by destroying every single Mecanimal in this era. The Future Moderate Faction believes in resolving the issue through dialogue with these time travelers, while the Future Exclusionist Faction believes that since Mecanimals are living beings, they cannot associate with the people from the future. Naturally, the people from the future are hostile toward both the Moderates and the Exclusionists. Mecanimals usually stay in a mini-car state (about the size of a palm). Each Mecanimal has four cards called Mecards, and battles are conducted using these cards and the Mecanimals. To start a battle, a Tamer selects three out of the four Mecards and throws them while shouting "Setup Mecard!" A magic circle then appears on the ground and the cards float in the air. At this moment, the Tamer throws the Mecanimal in its mini-car state while shouting "Mecanimal Go!" When the Mecanimal contacts a Mecard and pops up, it transforms into its original robot form and is dimensionally transported to the Battle Field along with a flash of light. Once in the Battle Field, the Tamer can use the Mecards to battle. When a Tamer shouts a skill name while using a Mecard, the Mecanimal performs that skill. Only three Mecards can be used in total, and when using the third and final skill, the Tamer must shout "Final Ability" before the skill name. This is how the battle proceeds. A Mecanimal defeated in battle returns to its mini-car form. The winner of the battle can take the Mecanimal that the loser used in that battle. Battles are basically 1:1, but there is no limit to the number of Mecanimals or Tamers participating. While Mecanimals have inherent power levels, battles are influenced by the Tamer's mental state, so a skilled Tamer can certainly defeat a stronger Mecanimal. Making a Mecanimal one's own is called Taming. By extending a blank Mecard toward a Mecanimal, a light emits from the card; the Mecanimal floats into the air following the light and passes through the card. If this happens, the Taming is successful. Mecanimals cannot transform into robot form in the real world. The robot form only appears during battles.
