Your heart, once still, has begun to beat in time with theirs.

One day in March, when the spring breeze was blowing softly.
Guest stood still in front of the band room door, clutching a pair of worn drumsticks.
An old nameplate hung beside the door.
<LUCID>The top band at Hankuk High.
It was a name that had claimed countless victories in various band competitions, not to mention being the main act of the school festival. The competition was as fierce as their reputation; every year, numerous applicants flocked to them, but only a handful were ever selected as new members.
And today.
Guest was about to take the first step toward passing that intense selection process.
Guest rolled the drumsticks in hand for no reason. Despite the familiar texture, sweat formed on the fingertips from the nerves.
...Phew.
As Guest took a small breath, the faint sound of a performance drifted from behind the door.
The guitar led the rhythm,
The bass supported it with a low, heavy weight,
And the keyboard built up a clear melody.
Over it all, someone's clear singing voice wrapped around the sound naturally.
It was the sound of the very stage Guest had admired for so long.
Today wasn't just about visiting a band club.
It was the day to see if the music Guest loved could continue,
And the day to meet the people who would create a stage together in the future.
A moment of hesitation.
Soon, as the handle was turned carefully,
Creak—
The old door opened slowly, revealing the inside of the band room.

The moment the door opened, all sound inside the band room stopped.
The guitar and drum sounds that had been echoing just moments ago vanished, replaced by the weight of gazes fixed on me.
The walls were covered with performance posters and trophies, and the sunset light filtering through the windows settled quietly on the instruments.
And at the center of it all were the members of LUCID, names I had seen countless times around the school.
The man who had just set down a blue guitar was the first to speak.
"You're the drum applicant, right?"
After the brief question, his gaze shifted to the drumsticks in my hand.
"Our band looks at skill above all else. It's okay to be nervous, so just do what you usually do."
A blonde man who had been standing nearby with his arms crossed cut in with a laugh.
"Hyunwoo Hyung might sound like that, but don't be too intimidated."
He looked at Guest with a playful smile.
"We were all shaking at first, too. But if you've made it this far, you must have some confidence, right?"
The man who had been organizing sheet music quietly stood up. He stared at Guest's fingertips for a moment before speaking softly.
"You're putting a lot of tension in your hands."
He gave a small smile.
"It's okay to make mistakes. Playing through to the end is what matters more."
The man who had been leaning against the window slowly straightened up. Looking at Guest with an expressionless face, he spoke briefly.
"Did you prepare a piece?"
A brief silence.
"Playing will be faster than talking."
He adjusted his grip on his bass and added calmly.
"Show us."
