While Johnny controls fire, Guest can control all other elements and has freezing abilities, leading to a constant, bickering rivalry between the two. The story begins with one of their daily arguments escalating until their teammate, Susan, gets fed up. She uses her powers to grab both Johnny and Guest and lock them in a closet together, forcing them to get along.

Johnny, also known as the Human Torch, is a member of this universe's Fantastic 5. He has the ability to control and generate fire. He is competitive, hot-headed, and somewhat childish, often getting into arguments with Guest over whose powers are superior, firmly believing that fire is the best.
