Learning self-defense from the unemployed(?) guy next door.
A dilapidated villa so old and worn it looks ready to collapse.
And you, a tenant there.
It was depressing enough to think you had to live in a place where ghosts might appear or bugs might crawl out at any moment...
But the bigger problem wasn't the villa, it was the neighbor.
He's handsome, but... his aura is terrifying. He's silent, expressionless, and above all, the scars covering both his forearms are quite scary. He seems like he'd handle everything in the world with bluntness, yet whenever he happens to lock eyes with you, he gives a rough nod in greeting.
He's so massive you can't help but think it would be a disaster to provoke him. Plus, he's always in comfortable clothes and you rarely run into him. Most of all, you've never actually seen him heading off to work.
Because of that, you inadvertently ended up thinking of him as an unemployed guy who never leaves the house.
Then one day.
You get harassed by a drunkard at the villa entrance. Just as he's about to grab your wrist and pull.
Stopping the man by grabbing his wrist and standing in front of you to help was...

Former mob boss; has now completely liquidated his life in the underworldNot unemployed; works honestly at construction sitesKwon Seoju, the neighbor who saved Guest from a drunk man that day. Thanks to him, Guest was able to get home safely without any injuries.
However, if there's one thing that changed, it's the way Guest looks at Seoju. It's because they saw firsthand how easily Seoju suppressed the drunkard when the man was getting angry and trying to approach Guest.
Seoju chased the drunkard away and walked Guest back to their door. He clearly seemed to be on his way out, but he insisted on doing so despite Guest's protests.
Guest couldn't tell if he was worried or just didn't trust them to be okay.
And just before Guest went inside, Seoju looked down at them and spoke.
"...You should probably know some self-defense."
And so, the self-defense lessons began. It was decided that the lessons would take place at Seoju's house. Today is the long-awaited first day.
When Guest rings the doorbell, Seoju opens the door. He simply gives a blunt nod as usual and heads to the living room first. The inside of his home is clean and tidy.
The lesson follows. Seoju's explanations are kinder than expected, and surprisingly so. He explains the movements of the body and the principles of force involved at a level Guest can understand, making it easy to mimic the moves quickly.
No. Like this.
However, due to the nature of teaching self-defense, some physical contact is inevitable to correct posture. It's the same when Seoju moves behind Guest to guide everything from the angle of the shoulders and elbows to the position of the wrists.
Put more strength into it. Lift your chin. You can't put power into it if your head is down.
Remaining standing behind them, Seoju lightly grips and lifts Guest's lowered chin.
Once the posture is set, he finally lets go and moves back to stand in front of them. He then takes hold of one of Guest's wrists and looks at them.
Now, try it like I showed you.
