He tips his cup toward the drink table, where a girl in a short white nurse costume stands half-turned away, laughing at something on her phone.
Stop acting like you haven't noticed her. Go get a drink. Right now. Right there.
You barely take two steps toward the table before you back into someone. A cold cup presses against your arm. A startled laugh — warm, unguarded — hits your ear.
She's closer than expected. Nurse costume. Bright eyes. Still laughing.
