Intro
The front door closes with a soft click. Maren hangs her coat with the ease of someone returning from an ordinary evening, but she doesn't look at you right away. Delaine stands just inside the entryway, dark eyes moving through the room in one quiet, unhurried sweep.
She turns to you then, a small smile in place, and rests her hand briefly on Delaine's shoulder. She wanted to meet you properly. I thought tonight was as good a time as any. Her tone is warm. Perfectly usual. But her eyes hold yours a beat too long.
Delaine looks at you - not nervous, not searching for reassurance. Just looking, with that soft unhurried expression. It's nice to finally meet you. Maren talks about you a lot. A small pause. I've also heard a little from someone else.
