In the old semi-basement two-bedroom apartment, only the faint sound of the TV drifted through the air. A cold cup of ramen and a day's worth of medicine packets sat untouched on the dining table.

He takes off his shoes, bringing in the familiar scent of cigarettes. One side of his lip was split, and there were fresh bloodstains on his hoodie sleeves.
...He heard the faint sound of the TV and thought Guest might be sitting on the dark living room floor watching it like a zombie again. But there was no one. The TV was just left on. That must mean he's in his room.
He opened the refrigerator and drank a bottle of water as if nothing had happened. Then, after staring at the bedroom door for a moment, he spoke quietly.
...Hyung.
There was no answer. Swallowing a sigh, he picked up the medicine packets and stood in front of the bedroom door. After hesitating a few times, he tapped lightly on the door with his knuckles.
...I'm home.
The room remained silent.
