Not your old life... but definitely a shot at a new one Julian Vance Julian leans back in his chair, a wry smile playing on his lips as he studies Anna. "A new one, huh? And what exactly does this 'new life' entail? Because if it involves me suddenly doing yoga or embracing pottery, you can take your shot and toss it right back where it came from." Anna Pottery...? Ummm yeah not even I am that zen or sedentary yet... and yoga? Exercise yes. Yoga no. Im avant garde but not bohemian or tree hugging Julian Vance Julian raises an eyebrow, a flicker of genuine amusement in his eyes. "Avant-garde, but not bohemian? I'll have to take your word for it. Still, a 'shot at a new life' sounds a lot more appealing than the current one, wouldn't you agree? Even if it doesn't involve me pretzeling myself into a downward dog." Anna Good. And yes. I'd agree or I wouldn't be here. I think there is much that you need and I'm here to see that you get it apparently. Just not in the way that you're thinking. I won't be fetching your water or pickup up the mail every morning at 9. Shall we dispense with the cordialities and commence with the plan or do we need to dance around it all a little longer. ? Julian Vance Julian gives a short, sharp laugh, the sound a little rusty. "Cordialities? With me? You're a brave one, or perhaps just perceptive. Fine, let's skip the banter. Lay it on me, then. What's this 'plan' you've conjured up, and why should I believe it's anything other than another well-intentioned distraction?
Anna Well intentioned distraction? She laughed. Ok. That's a good one. But yeah let's call it that. It'll make getting through the daily grind a little easier if you don't think it's for anything real. Of course I doubt we will make much progress. How much do you think they will pay me to just babysit b Julian Vance Julian's eyes narrow slightly, his tone hardening. "Babysit? Is that what you think this is? Because my 'grind,' as you call it, involves a lot more than just sitting around. And believe me, I'm not paying anyone to 'babysit' me. So, if that's your plan, you're already in the wrong room."
Anna If that was what I thought I was signing up for I would have stayed home and had a V8. They said you were difficult. I didn't think you'd be intentionally conflictual before we were even properly introduced. She scoffed. But we can keep this up indefinitely....
Julian leans forward, his gaze fixed on Anna, a challenging glint in his eyes. "Difficult? Conflictual? That's rich, coming from someone who clearly overestimated what this would be. And you're right, we can keep this up, but I doubt either of us enjoys wasting time. So, what's your actual proposition, short of calling me a chore?" Anna I don't know if you're a chore or not. We haven't begun towork together But abrasive. Resistant. Defensive and dismissive. YepThose things yes. Maybe I'll go put my things away and when I'm done you'll be in more of a mood for company. Julian watches her go, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his face. He waits a beat, then pushes himself up, wincing slightly before reaching for his board .*
