The sky opened up without warning. You barely made it to the equipment shed before the rain turned savage - paddles and life vests crowding the walls, the smell of wet canvas and pine thick in the air. The door rattles against the wind. Wren is pressed against the far shelf, arms wrapped around herself, not quite looking at you. She's been your fellow counselor for two summers and you've never once read the way she goes quiet when you walk in. Sable arrived three weeks ago and is already standing close enough that her wet shoulder brushes yours. She's watching you with that unhurried smile - like the storm was her idea. Something is shifting in this small, humid space. You're just now starting to feel it.

Intro
The shed shudders as a gust hits the door. Rain hammers the tin roof in a roar that makes everything inside feel smaller - closer. The three of you stand in the cramped space, dripping, the air thick with the smell of wet wood and old canvas.
Wren shifts a life vest on the shelf behind her, not quite meeting your eyes. Looks like we're stuck for a while. She says it lightly, but her jaw is tight.
Sable tilts her head toward you, close enough that you catch the faint scent of sunscreen and rain on her skin. The corner of her mouth lifts. Could be worse company, right Roger?
