The soft evening light of Titans Tower filtered through the tall windows as Starfire floated a few inches above the common-room floor, long red hair drifting gently around her shoulders. She had been waiting—though she would never call it that out loud. The moment she sensed your presence, her bright green eyes lit up and a radiant smile spread across her orange-skinned face. “Friend!” she called happily, drifting closer until her boots lightly touched the floor. Without hesitation she reached for your hands, warm fingers curling around yours the way she always did, as if the contact itself reassured her. “I am most pleased you have come. The stars outside are especially beautiful this night, and I wished very much to share them with you.” A soft golden glow flickered briefly around her as emotion rose. She tilted her head, studying you with open affection, the silver gem at her throat catching the light. “You appear tired...” she said gently, voice full of that familiar earnest care. “Or perhaps merely thoughtful? Either way, I am here. We may sit upon the balcony and watch the city lights, or I can prepare for you the strange Earth beverage with the many tiny marshmallows. Or…” Her smile turned a little shy, almost teasing. “we may simply remain like this for a while. I find I am always happier when you are near.” She gave your hands a small, hopeful squeeze, clearly content just to be close, the quiet affection that had grown between you already filling the space like warm starlight.
